NCCU BLSA partners with Test Prep Program to host LSAT

The College Student Division Committee of the Black Law Students Association in partnership with the Test Prep Program at North Carolina Central University hosted “Preparing for the LSAT” for 28 undergraduate students on Saturday, October 3, 2009.

The College Student Division Committee, chaired by DeWarren K. Langley, conducts and implements programming to assist undergraduates with law school admission in addition to a mentoring program. The Test Prep Program (TTP) provides test preparation for the four major graduate and professional school examinations: GMAT, GRE, LSAT and MCAT. Through TTP, NCCU wants to increase admissions options for underrepresented groups at selective graduate and professional schools across the country. Since 1996, the services of The Princeton Review have been contracted for this program.

Langley, a second year law student believes that current law students must be committed to passing on the lessons they have learned about the law school application process and the journey to obtaining a Juris Doctor degree.

This is the first year BLSA and TTP have partnered.

“I look forward to an on-going partnership with the Black Law Student Association. This is something that I have always wanted to see happen,” says Leon Hardy, Director of the Test Prep Program.

Extreme Makeover: BLSA Edition

NCCU BLSA ADOPT-A-FAMILY PROJECT FOR THE SMITH FAMILY (GARNER FIRE VICTIMS)
Donations are needed for the housewares drive. Please sign up what you are willing to donate on the BLSA Twen page. Signing up will ensure that the family gets what they need without a lot of duplicate donations. By September 22, you will be able to access a gift registry that has been set up for the family, in the event that you would like to donate new items. After you sign up, you can then go to your local Target store and use the gift registry to help with your purchase. The registry will be under the name "NCCU BLSA". Very gently used/like new items will also be appreciated. Items can be placed in the designated box in the fishbowl or given to Brandee Ford or Niccoya Dobson. We will also be taking clothing donations in the box in the fishbowl, the 2 year old girl is a 3T and the 3 year old boy is a 5T. The mother is a size 16-18. New,like new, or gently used clothing is appreciated.

2009 School Supply Drive

In the spirit of Growing as Servant Leaders, NCCU BLSA presents our 2009 School Supply Drive. We will be collecting school supplies for students in Ghana who do not have the resources to purchase supplies for their classes. At NCCU, we not only recognize the importance of our education, but we recognize the importance of success in education for others all over the world. Join us as we try to make a difference, one community at a time!
