Our President is Black!
After 400 years of physical and mental oppression, rape, mutilation, castration, etc. and 100 more years of treatment like second class citizens with the daily denial of our constitutional and human rights, no one can deny the RESILIENCE of our people. We stand on the shoulders of giants who cried, prayed, and WORKED, so that our generation would experience a better life. Most of our ancestors were brought to this country involuntarily as CHATTEL, but look how far we’ve come… Although poverty, institutionalized and overt racism, elitism, classism, and several other “isms” still effect and attempt to suppress our people... we will (as always will) remain a RESILIENT fist fighting to the end!!! We have so much to celebrate and be proud of!
In the midst of our rejoicing, let us remember our responsibility to not only be stellar law students and eventually brilliant attorneys, but we have a DUTY to use our knowledge and influence to continue to UPLIFT our people.
“If our children should live to see the next century…what change will they see? What progress will WE have made? This is our chance to answer that call. This our moment. This is our time…” –President-Elect Barack Hussein Obama
